Take a look at this picture for a better understanding: Once the pod terminates, the disk will be detached and discarded. In case you picked one of the default storage classes on AKS which are backed by the Azure Disk service, the CSI driver will attach a new disk to the Kubernetes host and mount it to the requesting pod. ![]() the StorageClass), the access mode(s) and the volume size. The template contains all relevant information about the requested storage such as which CSI driver to use (a.k.a. A pod can request a volume by adding a volumeclaimTemplate to its’ manifest. The basic functionality of generic ephemeral volumes is simple to explain. Introduction to generic ephemeral volumes All these provisioners make use of Azure managed disks which are mounted and unmounted to the Kubernetes worker nodes. A StorageClass like managed-csi-premium, which is provided by default with each AKS cluster, is a good example for this. The most straightforward implementation of this API in AKS can be found in provisioners based on the CSI driver named. This blog describes how generic ephemeral volumes can be used in the managed Kubernetes service on Azure (also known as “AKS”). While the Kubernetes API defines how generic ephemeral volumes can be requested and how their lifecycle looks like, it is up to the specific Kubernetes CSI provisioners how this API is implemented. Just as a short summary: the default configuration for SASWORK ( emptyDir) will not meet the requirements for any serious workload and the alternative hostPath configuration (albeit providing sufficient performance) is often objected by Kubernetes administrators for security reasons.Īs we will see in this blog generic ephemeral volumes provide a good alternative to both options but some caution is advised to make sure that the I/O performance meets your expectations. In case you are wondering why you should bother at all about this I’d like to refer you to the blog I mentioned above. As the Kubernetes documentation puts it: a generic ephemeral volume is a “per-pod directory for scratch data“ and for that reason it is a prime candidate for being used as SASWORK and CAS disk cache data storage. As the name suggests, the lifetime of these volumes is coupled to the lifetime of the pod which makes the request. Generic ephemeral volumes have been introduced to Kubernetes in release 1.23. While the other text compares various storage options, I’d like to provide more details about a specific new Kubernetes API called “ generic ephemeral volumes” in this blog. ![]() This blog can be seen as an “extension” to my overview describing common options for SASWORK storage on Azure AKS (see here). ![]() ![]() ![]() ∙ Decades after his death, his music continues to find new fans, and the 2006 compilation La Historia de Javier Solis topped Billboard’s Regional Mexican Album chart. ∙ Beginning in 1959, Solís appeared in more than 20 movies, giving him the chance to collaborate with noted actors Pedro Armendáriz, María Victoria, and Lola Beltrán. ∙ Along with icons Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete, Solís was known as one of the Three Mexican Roosters, a nickname given to the men due to their acting and musical talents. Ok you might argue you have a better probability winning with a 80% book value as compared to 50% which is correct however it is high consistency but low profit. This new approach allows us to absorb losses and still be in profit. We would profit approximately £9 per race if our horse won. So if we adopt this dutching strategy for the 4 races mentioned earlier and aim for our maximum 50% book value limit. ![]() a lower book value say 30% to 50% and never break this rule. This is when I decided to aim for more profit per horse race i.e. What made this approach so infuriating is that there could be 10 horses in a race I had 5 of them to a book value of 80% and still lose! I was dutching to approximately 80% book value which normally consisted of the top 5 or 6 in the betting market for a horse race. A typical racing day would consist of say 4 small profits say £1 to £2 profit for 4 races for a £10 dutching stake and then get wiped out with a losing bet so basically I would be in a negative position. When I started dutching I watched many Youtube videos on the strategy and tried these but kept on losing a majority of the time i.e. You can calculate the total book value manually and there are plenty of free dutching calculators online, excel spreadsheets etc. I use the excellent Bet Angel trading tool software that allows me to place my horse racing dutching bets quickly and understand the total book value I am betting to say 40% very quickly. Clean scents for $29 that smell just like replicas of luxury brand originals? It seems too good to be true.īut after many failed attempts with brands like Skylar, The 7 Virtues, Ellis Brooklyn, and Heretic (to name a few), I was desperate to find a clean perfume that really hits the spot and lasts longer than a couple of hours. I do think some name-brand perfumes come in pretty bottles, but I’m not interested in paying twice as much just for a fancy bottle! I’m more than happy with the simple bottles that Dossier uses. When I first heard about Dossier perfumes, I was a bit skeptical. So much more reasonable than what most perfumes or colognes cost. I love how their fragrances are just $29 a bottle. The fact that I really liked the two perfumes that were inspired by perfumes I knew I liked, tells me that Dossier does a nice job of matching premium fragrances. I haven’t smelled Bleu De Chanel, but I assume I just don’t like the original fragrance. I didn’t dislike this one exactly, but I felt fairly neutral towards it rather than actually liking it. I saw that Bleu De Chanel is one of the top selling colognes on Ulta’s website and decided to order Dossier’s Citrus Ginger to try. My experience with the cologne was similar. I didn’t care for this scent but based on my experience with the other two perfumes, I assume I wouldn’t like YSL black opium either, rather than my dislike being tied to the Dossier version specifically. The Dossier version is called Ambery Vanilla. I have just seen content online where people had shared how they loved the YSL black opium fragrance. The third perfume I hadn’t smelled myself before. I was really pleased with how both of these closely matched the fragrance they were inspired by. The other was called Fruity Almond, which is inspired by Good Girl Carolina Herrera perfume. ![]() The two perfumes that I ordered that I knew I liked the scent of the premium version were Marc Jacob Daisy inspired perfume which is called Floral Violet at Dossier. I was hopeful that just ordering a popular one would work out, but I knew that was pretty risky! I have never really paid attention to cologne advertising so I wasn’t familiar with any, and wasn’t sure what scents me or my partner might like on him. ![]() For the fourth one, I just looked up some popular colognes and ordered an inspired version. Two perfumes that I had smelled before and knew I liked, and one that I had seen others talking about but hadn’t smelled before myself. Odds are really high that whatever your favorite perfume is, Dossier will have a similar option. So, if you are someone like me who isn’t interested in paying twice as much for a fragrance as you really have to just so that the bottle is pretty or the name brand is popular…then Dossier is for you! They realized that a lot of what causes high end fragrances to be expensive is not really about what goes into the fragrance itself, but is instead about the bottle and the marketing involved.īy eliminating those expensive marketing materials and using a more standard bottle, they’re able to make fragrances that are really close to the premium ones, but for WAY less expense.
